How a conversion works here
Every other converter a search turns up is an upload form with a queue behind it. This is three steps and no server.
Drop the file
An .fdx or a .fountain, up to 32 MB. It is read by the tab, not sent anywhere — open the network panel and watch nothing happen.
It is parsed, not scraped
The same parser the app imports with reads every element: headings, cues, parentheticals, dual dialogue, scene numbers, notes. Anything a format cannot carry is named on screen rather than dropped in silence.

Straight answers
- Is my screenplay uploaded anywhere?
- No. The parsers and page writers are JavaScript that runs in your tab, so the file is read on your own machine and never sent to a server. There is nothing to delete afterwards because there was never a copy.
- Is it actually free? Is there a watermark?
- Free, with no account, no page limit and no watermark. The PDF that comes out is the one you send to a reader.
- What formatting does the PDF use?
- US Letter, Courier 12 at ten characters and six lines to the inch, a 1.5-inch left margin, and page breaks that carry (MORE) and (CONT'D) rather than stranding a cue at the foot of a page. Title page, scene numbers and dual dialogue come across.
- Do I need Final Draft installed to convert an .fdx?
- No. The .fdx is read directly, so you can open, convert and read a Final Draft file without holding a licence for it.
- Can I convert a PDF back into Fountain or Final Draft?
- Not here. A PDF is a picture of a page rather than a screenplay, so recovering elements from one is guesswork. Start from the .fdx or .fountain the PDF was made from.
- How long a script can it take?
- Up to 32 MB, which is a feature at any length with room to spare. The conversion is usually finished before you have let go of the file.
