Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Screentype. The same two commitments lead: you own your writing, and we do not use your data with AI without your prior consent. Details on data handling live in our Privacy Policy.

You own your screenplay
You retain all ownership rights in the scripts, screenplays, notes, titles, and other creative content you create or upload (“Your Content”). Screentype does not claim ownership of Your Content. We do not sell it, publish it as ours, or claim copyright in it.
To operate the service, you grant Screentype a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, and export Your Content solely as needed to provide Screentype to you — including backups, sync, revision history, and formats you choose to export. That license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for residual copies that may briefly remain in backups until they rotate out.
No AI use without prior consent
We will not send Your Content or your account data to third-party artificial intelligence or machine-learning services, and we will not use that material to train AI models, without your prior consent. If we offer an optional AI feature that needs Your Content or account data, we will ask first and only proceed if you agree.
Editor features that run on your document inside Screentype — such as format handling, ghost completions drawn from your own script, and structural or dialogue analysis computed from what you typed — are part of the product itself, not consent for third-party AI training or model calls.
Agreement
By accessing or using Screentype at screentype.app, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Accounts
You sign in through a third-party identity provider (currently Google). You are responsible for keeping that account secure and for activity under your Screentype session. Provide accurate information and do not attempt to access another person’s library or documents.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Screentype to break the law, infringe others’ rights, or upload content you do not have the right to use.
- Probe, disrupt, or overload the service; bypass access controls; or interfere with other users.
- Reverse engineer or scrape the service except where applicable law allows.
- Misrepresent affiliation with Screentype or use our marks without permission.
We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are violated or if needed to protect the service or other users.
The service
Screentype is provided as a writing tool. Features may change, pause, or end as we improve the product. We aim for reliability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Export your work regularly if you need independent copies.
Screentype and its branding, software, and documentation remain ours (or our licensors’). These Terms do not transfer ownership of that material to you — only a right to use the service as offered.
Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Screentype is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Writing software can lose data; keep exports of important drafts.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Screentype and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to Screentype is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) zero if the service was free.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed.
Changes
We may update these Terms as Screentype evolves. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes that affect ownership of Your Content or AI use of your data will be called out clearly.
